The bathroom was ok. Hannah had a ball with the sink, she could reach the taps, so she played with the water a lot. Washing her hands, cleaning potatoes ... the works.
In and around our appartment
The Shady Side Inn appartment on 5th Avenue where we stayed for the 8 weeks we spent in Pittsburgh.
The television ! (with cable !)
Plenty channels, plenty crap.
It's almost impossible to watch anything because of the frequent intermissions. Except Spongebob Squarepants of course ! 10 minutes of uninterrupted cartoon ! perfect !
Ton Peijnenburg lend me his electric guitar and amplifier. He went on a short holiday so I could borrow it for a few weeks. It is a strat model Samick. Very decent to play on. I enjoyed it tremendously. I rekindled my interest in playing the guitar.
Ok, ours at home is not ready yet (ahum), but at least we have a bit more luxury at home. Fran did her best to cook in this oldie goldie kitchen.
Quite spacious (2x times our own bedroom !)
The appartment is ... very white. Everything is white, floor, walls, ceiling. Hmm, ah well, Hannah did her best to bring some colour to the carpet ;-)
Squirrels rip open the garbage bags and have a feast on the waste. The squirrels are not so shy as in the Netherlands. Close by here is the area Squirrel Hill, aptly named !
A very plain brick building.

Fifth avenue is the supply route to the downtown hospitals. UPMC (University Pittsburgh Medical Center) is the main employer in Pittsburgh. So, every 15 minutes or so an ambulance comes whizzing past our appartment. Which isn't sound proof at all (single pane windows, paper thin walls) the sirenes are deafening. We are not used to this at all. Of course now, just before we leave we got a bit used to it ;-)
