Friday, going back home ...

And I'm late ! Oops. I was working on a simulation of which the result was needed for a meeting. The meeting was still ongoing when I finished it. This all meant I'm late ... a good 1.5 hour late. Which is not exactly ok, because I forgot Fran is giving her first English lesson tonight at 19:00. I'll arrive (if everything goes well) at home at 18:45. So I'll keep my fingers crossed. Very busy now in the train. I'm in the front train section, just behind the locomotive. And ... just left Rotterdam and already our first unscheduled stop ... aarghh. Just after station Rotterdam Zuid. This is not good. Ah, luckily we are rolling again.... Of course, when it really matters, the trains don't run on time ...
I've reached Dordrecht ... but now a broken freighttrain is in front of us on the track and there is an unknown delay. I just called Fran to call off her appointment ... It's a real shame. I'm very sorry I didn't leave earlier. Fran has been preparing for this all week.

We left Dordrecht but are now going through some torrential rain. A number of railway crossings are not functioning, which means that the beams are not working. Which in turn means that train has to slow down to snail speed to safely pass the crossings ... luckily the train driver was so kind to mention it over the intercom.

Funny a very tall man just got in the compartment. And is now sitting right across me. Our knees aren't touching, but it is close. And I was just thinking what would happen with these ultra tall people in public transport. Hitting their heads against baggage racks etc ...

A middle aged women is sitting next to the tall man, she has a pleasant face. She went out on the platform for a breeze or something in Dordrecht and almost missed the train. The conductor forgot to whistle and the doors slammed shut. Luckily for her somebody could open the door from the inside ... at least nodody got hurt, sometimes people get stuck and are dragged along with the train ....

My goodness, it's really warm and humid, I'm sweating like a pig. Luckily I've always water with me.

Slept at Henk's place last night. Had a good time. Dinner was very ok, nasi a la Henk. With an omelet made from the egss laid by Debby and Henk's own chickens ! Played Rise of Nations. Wow, you really have to work hard in that game, checking all your units, your research etc. Henk had way too much practice, luckily we put ourselves in 1 team, otherwise I would have been annihilated. He also introduced me to Schoolbank.nl. I more or less knew the site, but I thought that you would have to pay from the start ... but a basic useraccount is free. Just like dienstmakkers.nl (which is not accidentally from the same company). Well, I uploaded one school photo (a class photo) of my time at the Juliana School in Tiel. A lot of people already signed up for this service. And plenty photo's have been uploaded.

A year ago or so I scanned a lot of photo's, but did them in batches: as much would fit on the scanner. So I've to cut and save with the correct filenames etc. quite a bit of work ... but haven't got much else to do right now.

We haven't reached Tilburg yet ... taking ages. Alle the railroad crossings were having technical problems again so ... going really slow now.
